Children

Children are welcome to join us at our 11.00 am Mass. There is a play area for young children.

At 4pm on the last Sunday of each month St John’s celebrates a Family Service in the Church Hall, with our focus being on children exploring the Christian faith with their families in an informal environment where they can make as much noise as they like! The service is interactive, with craft activities, fun songs and good food, all set in the context of our Christian theme for the month.

Every Tuesday from 9.30 to 11am we hold our Tots & Toddlers group in the Hall directly across the road from church. Toys and games are provided for the little ones as well as a simple breakfast of toast, yoghurt and juice, as well as tea and coffee for adults. There is a small charge of £2 for each family, and everyone is very welcome.

We are proud of our strong links to our local Church of England Primary School, located about a mile from the church. Our vicar, Fr Edward, regularly visits the school to do assemblies, help the staff implement its Christian vision, and offer the children the chance to get to know more about the Christian faith through the annual confirmation course, which is open to Years 5 and 6. The school makes regular visits to church both as part of its RE curriculum and also for School Mass at the end of each term.
